What is an intraoral scanner?

The intraoral scanner is an electronic system for taking digital dental impressions. It recreates the precise anatomy of the oral cavity in the form of digital 3D image. This digital copy will be used as a blueprint in the design of prostheses, or in the evaluation of certain treatments.

How does it work?

This technology uses an intra-oral camera that the dentist runs over the patient’s teeth and gums. By taking several photos and videos, a 3D model will be created and displayed on the screen using a software program that is linked to the scanner. This digital creation reproduces the color and shape of the teeth in great detail.
