What causes tooth discoloration?
Various factors can lead to this dulling of the coloring, such as the age which plays an important role in this process. Over the years, tooth enamel disperses, causing yellowing of the teeth, which can also be accelerated by taking medications such as certain antibiotics.
In some cases, we can detect a genetic background, i.e. a family predisposition to discoloration.
Tobacco also causes tooth discoloration due to the toxic substances it contains, such as tar.
Poor oral hygiene as well as eating habits may also strongly increase the risk of yellowing teeth, notably the consumption of coffee, tea and colored drinks.
